The first chapter of the Wool: Back to Check delivery is a celebration of the history of Woolrich. Pieces such as the Men’s Alaskan Overshirt and the Women’s Blanket Coat are a clear reference to heritage pieces from our archive.
The Women’s Alaskan Shirt and the Women’s Blanket Shirt put a new twist on classics through the addition of fringing – merging a country aesthetic with a feminine silhouette. The blanket inspiration in particular, is a clear reference to the Woolrich blankets which date back to the American Civil War. These were handed out to soldiers whose core form of survival was the warmth from the blankets.
Wool is the original, naturally high-performing fiber: moisture-wicking, anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, stain resistant and incredibly durable
These traditional styles aren’t the only connection between the past and the present – historically significant colours and patterns such as the Marine Scarlet which became the insignia for the Marine Corps’ uniform and the iconic Buffalo Check introduced by Woolrich in 1850 – can be found in this delivery.
Although updated and modernised for today’s consumer – these pieces pay homage to the historic Woolrich legacy whilst looking toward the future.
Developing the archetypes of the brand would not be possible without mentioning the fabric that started it all – wool. Wool is the original, naturally high-performing fiber: moisture-wicking, anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, stain resistant and incredibly durable. Needless to say, The Wool: Back to Check delivery is also a tribute to this faultless fiber.
