Woolrich collaborates with Japanese retailer BEAMS PLUS in honour of their 20th anniversary.
The celebratory capsule is designed by Daiki Suzuki, founder of Engineered Garments and frequent BEAMS PLUS collaborator.
The two brands share a passion for the outdoors, workwear and the pursuit of authenticity.
Delving deep into the Woolrich archive and using the original Big Game Hunting product line as a point of reference, Suzuki created a unique Black Watch pattern inspired by the traditional Woolrich Hunting Check of the same line.
In today’s world, this concept would translate to resilience, perseverance and aiming high.
As a designer, Suzuki’s approach was to refresh and revive the Woolrich Woolen Mills legacy after always having had a natural affinity towards American apparel and its rich history.
Discussing his experience, he shared the following:
I worked on some classically Woolrich items like the Cape Shoulder Lumberjack Coat, Hunting Breeches, the Railroad Vest and the Mackinaw Coat. All the while respecting their authentic details yet transforming the garments through the unique lens of BEAMS PLUS.
The capsule consists of five pieces with connections to traditional Americana, hints of varsity and a clean Japanese imprint that is undoubtedly the BEAMS PLUS hallmark.
